FESH IS THE BEST MAN ON EARTH!

Wendell Magee rallied the troops in the 1st and 3rd innings to erase an early 4-run deficit incurred by Ryan Nye. Nye gave up 2 more in the 5th before Bombard made a good move and brought in Billy Brewer. He pitched 2 scoreless innings and gave way the man of the hour, SEAN FESH!! Fesh (4-2) pitched excellently, except for one pitch. Alex "From The Cat" took him deep, lucky shit...Down 7-6, Marc Ronan came through with a key double in the bottom of the 8th that set the table for Wendell Magee Jr. to tie the game with an RBI single!! After a Lou Frazier walk loaded the bases with 1 out, Billy McMillon popped up and Torey strode to the plate on his Birthday with the bases loaded. In the meantime, we gave Steve Sinclair the time of his life on the mound, and he walked Torey to drive in the GO AHEAD RUN!!! Ken Ryan (S,5) finished off the 9th in order and the Red Barons climbed 12 games above .500 for the first time in 7 years!!!!

ARKANSAS BLAST!

WENDELL MAGEE JR. hit a solo homer (15) in the 3rd inning off Nerio Rodriguez. He was 4-5!!!
Lou Frazier had 2 hits, as did Billy McMillon and Marc Ronan, and Barry Johnson.

ERA DROP ALERTS!!!!

Billy Brewer provided Ryan with much needed relief!! Great job!
Brewer 4.03 -----> 3.90
Ryan 5.64 -----> 5.46
GOOD JOB PEN!

HECKLING WAS REALLY KEY!

Brian Smith was just too young, probably my age, and he couldn't take it. Neither could "Rosin Boy" Steve Sinclair, their "Closer" hahahahahhaha! Closer my ass!!
Hmm, I was just thinking about something...Lou Lucca plus Casey Blake = Ryan Minor. Think about it~! And TOREY really liked his cake cause chocolate is his favorite.

Tonight was all around incredible. First of all, the game was outstanding. The skychiefs posted a 4 spot on Ryan Nye in the 1st, but the Barons Quickly struck back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the inning. This kind of fight back spirit carried over all night. We eventually tied the game at 4, but just as quickly as we did that the chiefs got two more and made it 6-4. In the bottom of the seventh, some key hits once again tied the game at 6. The stage was set for Fesh to arrive on the scene and earn a win with his pitching in the eighth. Fesh started out with a hot hand, striking out his first victim. Then came trouble. DelGado stepped in and took Sean deep over the left field wall. This gave Syracuse a 7-6 lead. Fesh retired his next batter, but things seemed desperate. But that fight back spirit was there again!! After an RBI single by Wendell Magee Jr, Torey dug in. To that point, the birthday boy had been struggling at the plate a bit. Would this stop him? Hell no, Torey himself showed that never say die attitude that the whole team has had as of late. Torey watched 4 pathetic pitches as another run was forced in and gave the barons a 8-7 lead. In the top of the 9th Ken Ryan came in and slammed the door tight, icing yet another great Red Barons comeback, and giving Fesh his win after all! I feel this team has something special, something you can't measure with stats, and I think it has the potential to finish what the 92 team never could. And i vow no matter what to be around when they do. Every 7 years baby!!! Then to cap the night, Sean and the Megster joined the club at Chicks Diner postgame. It was just a great scene. Carl even stopped by as usual and the convo was excellent. And Sean proved what a guy he was by paying the check! Id like to personally thank him for that, he didnt have to and it just shows why we like him soo much. All in all it was just a fantastic night, and the whole atmosphere of it all makes me think therz just something about this year's team thats different. I hope its not just a feeling.

The Barons, in honor of Torey Lovullo's 34th birthday, refused to give in
tonight!! In a wacky contest, Skychiefs reliever Steve Sinclair proved to be
the Red Barons MVP of the game, walking in the run to give the Red Barons an
8-7 lead that they would not relinquish. The highlight of the night,
however, was the postgame meal that was enjoyed by Fesh and his fan club!
More on that later. Here are my insightful ramblings:

We had an Arkansas blast tonight from Wendell Magee, his 15th! And he made
some superb plays in the field this evening. Good job, Wendell, keep it up
on the Carolina road trip!

Fesh pitched tonight and gave up a home run to the most unlikely candidate,
left fielder/catcher/pain in the ass Alex DelGado. But when Fesh has a bad
inning, the offense rallies to support him. The bottom of the 8th was keyed
by timely hitting and timely BRS (Bad Reliever Syndrome) that attacked Steve
Sinclair. Fesh escaped with his 4th win of the year, and that is the stat
that really matters! WAY TO GO, SEAN!

In honor of Torey Lovullo's 34th birthday, the fan club efforted to make
Torey's day even more special. Bob purchased him a chocolate birthday cake
(Torey's favorite) and a birthday card. We sang to him 3 times during the
game, and John Davies and the Fanovision crew made a graphic for him! Torey
also extended his hit streak to 18 games! Keep it up in Durham, Torey!
You're the best!

Tonight's Trojan Boner of the Game goes to Lou Lucca. Even though we played
his song a couple times, and although I am his illegitimate son, he didn't
deliver tonight. Hopefully, I will never have to say that again. I have a
feeling Lou is gonna hit at least 2 HRs in Knights Castle. It's a small
stadium and he played there all of last year! C'mon Dad.... I mean, Lou..
don't let us down!

KEEP CLEMENTE ALVAREZ!!! It's a shame Ed Wade doesn't see this page or else
we would be able to. We are gonna miss you, Clemente, and maybe we will see
you again for the playoff drive!

And now... for the higlight of the evening. Sean Fesh and the fan club
enjoyed a postgame meal at Chick's Diner (the official eatery of the Fesh Fan
Club!) which has been planned for a while. We consoled Sean after his outing
tonight, but we talked about everything from the upcoming road trip to Durham
and Charlotte, to the heaviness of Lou Lucca's bat, to what he does during
the offseason. For the record, Fesh ordered the macaroni salad. We offered
to treat him to the meal, but he insisted on paying. We rationalized that
and said it was compensation for all the posterboard we bought for him. Sean
Fesh is truly a class act and a great guy!

My apologies to Red Barons pitcher Barry Johnson. Sean informed us tonight
at the restaurant that you are a frequent visitor to the website, and I was
unable to provide a column last night for the simple fact that I was lazy.
It will never happen again, Barry! You won't miss my insightful ramblings
ever again!

That's my two cents, gang. And always remember, enjoy the FESHtival.

Another warm fuzzy Mummau by Russ.

Tonight a milestone was set in the Sean Fesh fan club. A substantial turn out for any game showed up not only for the fesh, but in support of a winning team. After Bombard (Marc) woke up we showed Syracuse that we are one of the best teams in the league. To top off the 8-7 victory, Sean, Maggie (his girlfriend for those who don't know ) and her brother Tom accompanied our loyal group to Chick's diner where we had intended to treat the trio to their post game meal, but Sean, being the gentlemen that he is, picked up the tab for the entire group. Sean in my opinion represents everything that baseball has lost. With ever-increasing salaries, he comes out not only to prove himself but to please the crowd. Everyone has admitted that, on some level, we affect the game by or signs, chants, and dances for the team, but we all remember that this left handed pitcher from Connecticut has brought these friends together for a truly memorable summer.
