COLUMBUS SAGA: PART ONE!
 Jalal
Leach broke open a tie game with a run-scoring double in the sixth inning to
give the Barons a 6-4 victory. Mark Brownson (6-5), who struck out 10 in a 6-3
win over Toledo on Sunday, allowed eight hits and four runs, fanning four, in 6
1/3 innings for the win. With two outs in the top of the third, Reggie Taylor
doubled, stole third, and then scored on a P.J. Forbes triple. Gene Schall went
3-for-4 with a two-run blast in the four-run third inning. Marc Bombard almost
managed the Red Barons out of this game, and oddly enough, Fesh was involved.
Brownson was cruising along in the 7th inning, when Bombard immediately yanked
him in favor of Fesh to pitch to a left-handed batter. Columbus saw through this
ridiculous managing (although it was Fesh, Brownson needed to stay in) and
called on right-handed Ryan Thompson to pinch hit. Fesh got one man out, but
gave up two walks. This caused Bombard to have to bring in Manny Barrios to face
the next batter, and thankfully, Manny didn't blow it. The Barons hung on for
the victory and earned the series and road trip pilt.
Time to prepare for the "BLAME CANADA" series vs. the Ottawa Lynx
July 21-23! If you don't come to the stadium to support your Barons, you're
probably a communist, or even worse.. a Canadian.
