IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Barons blank Bisons with great pitching and STELLAR defense, ending a 7-game losing streak.
With the Barons' bats still taking a holiday, the pitching staff came up HUGE in today's 2-0 shutout at LCS. More importantly, there were several crucial defensive plays today which preserved the victory. More on that later.

ARKANSAS BLAST SEARCH....

In the 7-game losing streak which we failed to cover simply because of its depressing nature, the Barons had several Arkansas blasts. Gary Bennett went deep to break up Mike Johnson's no-hitter at JetForm Park. Gene Schall sailed one down the left-field line at JetForm in the incredibly demoralizing 7-6 extra-inning loss. And in Saturday's doubleheader sweep, Marlon Anderson chimed in with a solo shot over the 371 mark in right-center.

AND NOW, IN HONOR OF ALL THOSE WHO GOT A HIT...

Here is the rundown on today's offensive "performance"....
Marlon Anderson: 2 for 3, RBI single (3rd inning)
Chris Pritchett: 1 for 4, RBI single (8th inning)
Gary Bennett: 1 for 3, single
Darren Burton: 1 for 2, double

Also, we would be remiss if we didn't mention the several bang-bang double plays that saved us from certain death this afternoon. Dave Doster saved a run from scoring with a line drive double play in the 5th, and Chris Pritchett teamed up with Jimmy Rollins to do the same thing in the 7th. Great job, defense!!!

ERA DROP ALERTS!!!!

ERA Drops all around today!! That'll happen during a shutout, obviously. Shane Bowers (1-0) picked up his first victory with a stellar performance. Holzemer, Johnson, FESH, and Ward all chipped in through the late innings. Here they are in no particular order (chronological).
Bowers 4.15 -----> 1.86
Holzemer 5.40 -----> 4.50
Johnson 2.61 -----> 2.45
FESH 2.31 -----> 2.25
Ward 6.75 -----> 5.87
