FRONTIER FIELD GETS AN "A" FOR ATTRACTIVE!

My three favorite things in the world, Baseball, Fesh, and Tia were joined together at the Beautiful Frontier Field. (I'm not even joking, it's a really nice ballpark.) Despite the fact that I thought I'd vomit before I got off the #24 Bus to Midtown Plaza, I enjoyed one hell of an evening in Rochester sports.
Tia DeMartino, my girlfriend and nyaw, came with me to take in the game on a beautiful 73 degree evening just outside the inner loop of Rochester. I got the word on Barry Johnson's switch to #33 before the game, "The Goose got me," Johnson explained referring to last year when Goose Gregson was pitching coach. The players all seem to enjoy Gorman Heimuller's tuteledge.
I had a lengthy 3 inning conversation with the Fesh himself in the fan-friendly ballpark and was given Sunflower seeds. In turn, I introduced my love to my obsession and gave her my SWB fitted hat. Those of you who know me know that that means an awful lot, or that the hat is shrinking!
The Fesh is very pleased with the team so far and is very excited, its another really good bunch of guys in his opinion. Very nice in-ballpark amenities include: "Pettis Pool's Hottub" beyond the right-centerfield fence, "The Couch Potato Club" also in RCF which is a comfy couch to sit on, granted the view sucks..., Balloons on a stick for the little kids free of charge, and the grass patches in left and right foul territory that allow a father to spend quality time with his son in the tallgrass!
Frontier Field is incredibly family-oriented and Little kid oriented which gives it a 9, while P & C stadium in Syracuse gets a 3 for its trains.
After the game, since we had an hour to kill before the bus got there, we went to Blue Cross Arena and caught the 3rd period of the Amerks' 4-0 thrashing of Albany.

Oh yeah! The baseball game!! Appendix A is attached.

WHO YA GONNA CALL? DAVE DOSTER!!

The man some call "Double D" jacked a Josh "Twin" towers delivery into the raised bullpens in left field to give the Barons an early 1-0 lead. In the second, Kenny Woods continued to be a monster at the plate by driving in a run with a single in the second. That would prove to be all the runs the Red Barons would need as Cliff Politte pitched 6 innings of shutout ball. Barry Johnson gave up a run while getting 2 guys out in the seventh and Mark Holzemer went 1 1/3 scoreless before giving way to Bryan Ward, who picked up his 1st save as an SWB.

ERA DROP ALERTS!!!!

CLIFF POLITTE was awesome tonight!! He has pitched well enough to bring up comparisons with the late great Sandy Koufax or something like that.
The relief corps on the whole did a great job holding the 2 run lead!!!
WAY to go PEN!

Politte 1.93 -----> 0.84
Holzemer 5.40 -----> 3.86
Ward -----> log (10^0)

ALTOBELLI'S DELI IS YUMMY!!

Hey guys, Sean and methinks that we have a really good team this year.
We're almost too stacked in some cases, and Fausto speaks good english.

THE COLUMN YOU'D SIT ON THE 24 BUS FOR!!!

Here's that new hat Tia DeMartino (Caz) with her premiere edition of "pleh"
Most of you don't know me so I should explain a few things about my baseball
background. Growing up I was over exposed to baseball, with an older brother
that took obsession to a whole new level. And a family that fell into it all.
For 14 years of my life it was all little league games and the High School games,
and then the weekend trips to various major league ballparks (long car rides = blech!).
And even a few Skychiefs games (back when it was MacArthur stadium) when the Jays
were in town to play a few exhibition games. So....I was all "baseballed" out. Don't
get me wrong, I am a baseball fan....with limits though. And when Bob says that the
Red Barons are coming to Rochester....well, I was happy to see him get so excited but
I wasn't as excited. Things changed quickly though. When we got to Frontier Field I
started to feel excited. The ballpark, the players, My Bobby, and of course Sean
Fesh changed me. I was impressed and overwhelmed by the fact that there is a team out
there that has players warming up in the bullpen that you can truly call a friend.
I met Fesh and felt that he is a smart, warm, and down to earth guy (Like My Bobby!).
No wonder Fesh and Bob hit it off so well!
I saw baseball in a new light tonight...meeting Barry Johnson and Fesh and listening
to these guys talk really blew me away. I think I fell in love with the whole
atmosphere tonight and I plan on not ever losing this feeling. I had such a
fun night and am glad that I was there and experienced it all with my love.
Nyaws, thank you for tonight, I will always hold it close to my heart.
And thanks for the hat!!
